What are the advantages of the Pond-less basin?
Water features with standing water tend to attract mosquito's and wildlife that are drawn to water sources. In addition, ponds can fill quickly with leaves, twigs, tree needles, etc., requiring frequent cleaning, which can be a hassle. Finally, safety is a big concern when children or pets are around fountains with standing water.
What do you use to create the basin/reservoir?
We use three layers of 45 mil rubber liner. The liner contains the water and any splash outside of the 4ft. x 4ft. basin. Water cascades from the top of the boulder fountain and flows into the basin / reservoir area, where it's then pumped to the top of the rock again. The basins hold approximately 10 gallons.
How much electricity is required to run the fountain pump?
The pumps we use are 500 GPH (Gallon Per Hour) energy efficient pumps which only require 2 amps of electricity.
How long do the pumps last?
The pumps we use have a 3 year warranty and an average lifespan of 5 years.
How accessible is the pump?
The pump is housed in an accessible pump vault which will be hidden with a thin veneer stone. The pump is plumbed with a disconnect PVC fitting for ease of removal.
Do I need to fill the basin with water everyday or do I need an auto-fill float?
We suggest having an auto-fill float system connected to your water feature to prevent damaging the pump if you forget to fill the basin.
What type of Maintenance is required for this type of water feature?
We suggest using an animal safe algaecide product which will be added once a week to prevent algae. This product can be purchased from Select Boulder Fountains.
Can I add lights to the water feature?
Yes, we offer traditional halogen and LED submersible lighting options.
What type of stone are the Table Mesa boulder fountains?
Table Mesa boulders are a quartz boulder from Arizona which resemble petrified wood.
Is it possible to adjust the water flow of the boulder fountain?
Yes, each one of the boulder fountains is plumbed with an accessible PVC valve which will adjust the volume and sound of the water.
